The UK welcomes visitors to work remotely even without a digital visa. Visitors traveling to the UK with a UK visit visa can work remotely starting January 31, 2024.

 

Visitors would be allowed to work remotely only if their primary intention of visiting the UK is for vacations, meeting family members, engaging in non-work related activities, or attending a conference or business meeting.

 

This visa differs from the digital nomad available in Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, and Greece as it prevents individuals from entering the UK with the primary intention of remote work.

As per the recent announcement made to the UK Visit Visa, visitors can avail themselves of remote employment opportunities.

Extension of Permitted Paid Engagements (PPE)

The UK Government is likely to extend the Permitted Paid Engagements (PPE) list to allow payment for conference speakers. PPE speakers will be given 30 days to carry out their activities. The 30-day limit starts from the date of their arrival in the UK.
