If you are from the UAE and have decided to work in Austria, know what the county offers skilled migrant workers. The Republic of Austria, a highly industrialized country, offers talented workers numerous job opportunities. A highly industrialized nation, Austria is renowned internationally for tourism as well. Many foreign investors have made this country their home because of migrant-friendly policies. Visas for highly skilled workers One of the easiest and quickest means of getting an Austrian work visa is by applying for a Red-White-Red Card if you are a non-EU citizen. Based on a points-based system, it grades migrant workers according to their skills, educational qualifications, and work experience. To obtain a Red-White-Red card, applicants must get at least 70 points. Eligible for this card are workers with high qualifications in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, those with doctorate degrees, and people involved in research and innovation, among others. Work conditions  Employees must work 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week in Austria. Those who work more are entitled to overtime pay. Apart from the 13 public holidays per year, Austrians are entitled to five weeks of paid leave. Minimum earnings Although Austria has no minimum wage, the government in 2020 has fixed €1,500 as the minimum payment. Taxes  Those earning up to €11,000 a year are exempted from paying income tax, while 55% tax is levied on people earning €1,000,000 and above. Social security benefits All international employees in Austria are given a social security number, which allows them access to the social insurance benefits that all Austrian citizens can avail themselves of. Social insurance includes illnesses, unemployment wages, survivors' pensions, old age pays, healthcare and maternity coverages, etc. Under the country's health insurance, free medical treatment is provided to foreign employees and their dependent family members. They are also entitled to accident insurance. Covered under health insurance are mandatory maternity coverage, insurance coverage for free for family members, and childcare allowance. In accident insurance, coverage is provided for accidents at workplaces, job-related illnesses, and their consequences, including disability. Included in pension insurance are benefits like old-age pensions. Unemployment insurance is provided to those who are unemployed, which includes unemployment benefits and social welfare. All the employees, including self-employed ones, are covered by health insurance (They automatically cover minimum-wage employees). Parental, maternity, and paternity leaves All pregnant women are entitled to eight weeks of maternity leave, and so are those who give birth. Introduced by the Austrian government, the 'Daddy month' allows new fathers to be on paid vacation from work for one month after their child's birth. Parents are also allowed to take a parental leave of up to two years or are given the option to work reduced work hours until their child is four, depending on the employer's consent. Childcare  Both parents are eligible for childcare allowance, ranging from the first year after the child's birth until the toddler is around 30 to 36 months old. Other benefits Foreign employees are encouraged to pursue their higher education. Both the employer and the employee reap the benefits of it. Conclusion This central European country's average pay far exceeds most European countries' mean pay. The minimum wage includes the basic salary, overtime pay, incentives, and reimbursement for inactive hours. Due to these factors, Austria is one of the most attractive destinations for skilled migrant workers.
