Abstract: Ontario has updated its scoring system for issuing EOI to align with the new NOC codes.
The immigration process of Ontario has adopted a new scoring system for the EOI or Expression of Interest system to sync with the newly launched National Occupational Classification system of Canada.
Ontario authorities have stated that the update has been done to boost regionalization. The candidates who have study or work experience in Northern Ontario will be awarded the most points.

The new scoring system will help in improving operational efficiency, and decrease the risk of the program being exposed to integrity damage.
The OINP or Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program authorities stated that the immigrants who had submitted their EOI profiles before November 16, 2022, that is, the day the new NOC 2021 was launched are required to submit new profiles.

The applicant's profiles are awarded points on the basis of:
Ontario then nominates applicants who are sent invitations to submit their applications under one of the streams given above.
The profiles that are registered in the system of EOI can be updated if it is required at any time. An EOI profile is considered valid for 12 months or till an ITA or invitation to apply is issued.
ITAs are sent regularly by the OINP. Draws are conducted periodically, and inviting the candidates with the highest scores and who address the human capital or workforce requirements.
The applicants who are issued an ITA have to submit a duly filled application within 14 days.

The candidates are awarded credentials for a diploma or degree program from a Canadian higher learning public institution in a course which should be a minimum of 2 years long.
The candidates who pursue a diploma, degree, or certificate program from a public institution of Canada and are 1 year long are also awarded this credential.
