UK to launch a new visa to bring talented graduates to Britain

Abstract: The UK plans to attract international high-skilled university graduates with High Potential Individual visas.

• The UK wants to attract foreign, highly skilled graduates.
• The graduates will be allowed to work in the country for a maximum of three years.
• The new visa will be launched on May 30, 2022.

The UK wants to attract young talents by introducing the HPI or High Potential Individual visa. The visa is aimed at international university graduates who are highly skilled.

The graduates can come to the UK without a job offer or sponsorship. The graduates who are eligible for this visa can come to the UK to volunteer, work, and for self-employment.

The visa enables the foreign graduates to come to the UK and demonstrate their potential in the country with an employment offer. The visa will cost approximately 715 pounds.

Eligibility for the Visa

The eligibility for the HPI visa is given as follows:

• The candidate should have graduated from the top 50 universities in the world. The universities ranked by QS or Quacquarelli Symonds World University, Times Higher Education World University, and The Academic Ranking of the World Universities
• The applicant should have graduated in the past five years at the time of submitting their application.
• If the medium of instruction of the discipline was English, the graduates need to submit a transcript from the university or a certificate from the awarding body.
• If your subject was not taught in English, the graduates are required to pass the B1 level of English language tests.
• The graduates need to display 1270 pounds in their bank account for 28 days at a stretch 31 days before the date of the application.

The Master's graduate HPI visa will be valid for 2 years. In contrast, the Ph.D. or other doctoral level graduates' visa will be valid for 3 years. The visa will be granted only once, and the visa will not be issued to the graduates who already have been issued the Graduate visa.

The international graduates cannot directly apply for permanent residency, but before the visa expires, they can change their visa of graduate visa to a skilled worker permit.

The foreign graduates can bring dependants like partner or children under the age of 18.
