• The salary requirement for foreigners who wish to work in the UK will increase to £38,700.

New measures announced by the UK

James Cleverly, the UK interior minister, put forth a checklist of revisions to decrease net migration. The UK government then announced new measures to curb net immigration.

Some of the key announcements are as follows:

• Candidates who wish to acquire a UK work visa must have a salary requirement of £38,700, a significant increase from the current £26,000. 
• The net annual immigration will likely decrease by 300,000 in the coming years. 
• Limitations are to be imposed on overseas care workers, preventing them from bringing their dependent family members. 
• The 20% salary discount firms offer to foreign workers in SOL (Shortage Occupation List) is likely to be discontinued.

 

As of October 2023, the UK currently has around 957,000 job vacancies.
