The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) has announced that UAE is all set to introduce new Visa reforms from October 21. The new Visa system would be beneficial for families and visitors.
Visa for widows, divorcees
Under the new Visa system divorcees, widows, and their children will be granted a one-year extension on residency visa. This extension of one year would start from the day of divorce or death of the spouse. A sponsor is not required to apply for this Visa. The Visa aims at given women an opportunity to adjust to their economic and social status after the loss of the spouse. Earlier, women were required to leave the country in the case of divorce or death of the spouse.
Student VisaStudents who are sponsored by their parents will get a 2 year Visa after 12th Grade. Initially, a one-year Visa would be granted after 12th grade or to those who have completed their college or University studies. This Visa would be renewable for another one year. To avail the Visa, parents would need to pay Dh5000, as per The Khaleej Times.
Visit Visa extensionPeople holding a Visitor Visa for UAE would be able to apply for a 30-day extension twice without leaving the country. In the past, people had to leave the country after the expiry of their one-month tourist visas or 3-month visitor visas. A fee of Dh600 would be charged for each extension.
