Category-based Express Entry Draws

The IRCC introduced category-based Express Entry draws on May 31, 2023, to tackle the labor shortage situation in the country. The first category-based express entry draw was held on June 28, and Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to 500 healthcare professionals with a CRS score of 476.

The six categories that are included in the Category-based draws are as follows:

 

• French Language Proficiency
• Healthcare
• STEM Occupations
• Trade Occupations
• Transport Occupations
• Agriculture and agri-food occupations

 

Details of the Latest Express Entry Draw

The IRCC led the latest Express Entry draw on December 8, 2023, and issued 5,900 ITAs. The draw is the third consecutive in the second week of December 2023. Candidates from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math occupations (STEM) with a CRS score of 481 or above were chosen to apply for Canada PR.

The most recent Express Entry was on December 7, 2023, and invites were issued to 1000 French-speaking candidates.
