The Quebec way to Canada immigration: Latest draw invites 23 candidates

Quebec, the only officially francophone province of Canada, held a PNP draw on October 21, 2021. The province invited 23 immigration candidates to apply for permanent selection. The candidates were invited under QSWP which opens up a provincial pathway that helps them in Canada immigration.

The permanent selection to Quebec is done by MIFI. To qualify to apply for it, the candidates were required to file an EOI in the Arrima pool.

The Quebec government uses the online platform known as Arrima to give out a wide range of services to foreign nationals desiring to immigrate to Quebec. Arrima is a completely free and open platform for anyone to use.

The invitations issued in this draw also aimed at candidates with a valid job offer outside the Montreal Metropolitan Area. Also included in the target candidates were those who reside in Quebec as a consular official, UN representative, diplomat, or representative of any intergovernmental organization operating in Quebec.

In the first three quarters of 2021, Quebec invited 28,770 new Canada PR visa holders. Of them, 16,655 arrived in the province via economic programs, of which 1,315 were business immigrants and 15,335 were skilled workers.

About QSWP

QSWP is meant to help skilled workers to settle and establish themselves economically in Quebec. This program is largely chosen by international graduates and skilled workers who want to immigrate to Quebec for work as permanent residents.

Once the candidates get invited by Quebec, they are required to file their application for permanent selection within 60 days. They also have to pay the processing fee.

In the normal course, processing these applications take 6 months. If the application is processed and accepted, they will get a CSQ (Quebec Selection Certificate). With that document, they can apply for a Canada PR visa to the federal government of Canada.
