Highlights: Sweden Announces a 2 Million Grant for Foreign Researchers

Swedish Research Council Releases a 2 Million Grant to Attract Researchers

Swedish Research Council released an official statement, announcing a 2 million grant to bring in researchers from outside Europe. A 2 million grant will be issued to research-based and Higher education institutions (HEIs) to recruit qualified researchers from abroad. The 2 million funding will cover relocation expenditures such as housing, travel, accommodation, and recruitment and includes providing for the family members of the researcher and their initial salary.

Eligibility Criteria for the Swedish Grant for Researchers

A total of 2 million, with a grant period of one year, will be given to qualifying HEIs to hire international research talent. The 2 million grant will fund the researcher's relocation expenses, including their first salary, accommodation, travel, removal costs, etc. HEIs can submit their rolling assessments from April 15, 2025, until December 01, 2025.

 

The eligibility criteria to avail the 2 million grant offered by Sweden are as follows:

  • Swedish HEIs (Higher education institutions) and research-based institutions looking to recruit a foreign researcher are eligible to apply.
  • The foreign researcher must have at least 2 years of experience working outside Europe to qualify.
  • The researcher that the HEI has recruited must intend to set up and establish their research in Sweden.
