Bringing the total number of immigration candidates invited to the province to 1,975, Saskatchewan held a PNP draw on March 11, 2021. In the draw, 248 principal applicants were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
The SINP invited candidates from the International Skilled Worker category. The following was the way in which invites were issued across subcategories:
The invited candidates were required to have a minimum EOI score of 71. These candidates were also required to undergo ECA to show that their foreign educational qualification is equivalent to the Canadian standard.
Another requirement for eligible candidates was to possess work experience in one of the 70 occupations deemed as in-demand by the government.
About Occupations in-demand sub-category
This is an immigration program available to immigration candidates who don’t have a federal Express Entry profile. It caters to immigration candidates who are highly skilled in in-demand occupations in Saskatchewan. While applying, they don’t have a job offer in the province.
To immigrate to Canada under this sub-category, immigration applicants must have created an EOI profile via the online application system offered by SINP. The candidates are given a score out of 100 based on the Points Assessment Grid maintained by SINP. The assessment of candidate profiles is done based on factors like education, work experience, age, ability in the English language, and connections to the province.
The candidates who get the highest scores get invites issued to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.
About Express Entry sub-category
The Express Entry sub-category is linked to the federal Express Entry system which manages applications for 3 main economic-class Canada immigration programs namely FSTP, CEC, and FSWP.
Candidates with federal Express Entry profiles are also required to create EOI profiles for Saskatchewan. Only then they will be considered for an ITA for a provincial nomination.
Candidates who apply for the provincial nomination from Saskatchewan after getting the invite will be given 600 extra CRS points. This will ensure that they will get an ITA to apply for a Canada PR visa in a forthcoming federal draw.
