Quebec immigration now closer at hand for 90 immigration candidates

Quebec issued invitations to 90 immigration candidates on May 27, 2021. They were invited to submit applications for permanent selection.

The MIFI invited candidates under the RSWP. These candidates had submitted an EOI in Arrima, the online registration portal of Quebec.

The 2 categories of candidates who were invited in the May 27 invitation round were:

• those with a valid job offer
• those already there in Quebec active in the role of UN representative, consular officer, diplomat, or a representative of any intergovernmental organization having operations in the province, and their staff.

The May 27 draw is the fourth one held by Quebec in 2021. The other draws were conducted on Jan 26, Mar 30, and Apr 29, 2021. In all, 476 candidates have to date been invited to file an application to seek permanent selection by the province of Quebec this year.

Quebec immigration programs are managed on the basis of selection criteria as well as processes that are distinct from federal Canada immigration programs. The decision is taken by the IRCC on the approval of immigration applications.

What is Arrima?

Under the system currently active, a foreign national who wants to file an application for permanent selection under the RSWP has to register an EOI in Arrima first.

The launch of Arrima happened in 2018. It was an application designed to undertake the management of the applicant pool for the RSWP. It was also meant to simplify an intake system for applications that were based on a “first-come, first-served” approach earlier.

Candidates who are at least 18 years of age, interested to immigrate to Quebec via the RSWP can use Arrima. In it, they can create an EOI profile, which leads them to get placed in a candidate pool.

It’s then that MIFI issues invitations to the candidates who are most qualified. The candidates are selected based on criteria like the labor requirements existing currently in the provincial market and the strong potential of the candidate to gel well into the society of Quebec.

Candidates who are invited to file applications for permanent selection for Quebec immigration have in the regular course 60 days for submitting a complete application for the same. They are also required to make the payment towards the fees required and submit all other documents required within the given period.

Planned Immigration Levels

The Canadian province of Quebec and Canada’s federal government has made the commitment to increase their targets for immigration for the coming years. This year, Quebec is working towards achieving the target of welcoming around 47,500 new immigrants to the province. At the federal level, Canada has the target set for over 400,000 new immigrants who will arrive under various Canada immigration programs over the coming year.
