Portugal will fast-track the work permit application process for foreigners 

The Portuguese Government has announced a new accelerated process for foreigners entering the country. Portugal currently needs 100,000 skilled foreign workers every year due to a workforce shortage.

 

Foreign nationals with temporary work visa applications and those with residence permit applications will now have them processed within 20 days. This comes after the previous announcement where Portugal announced plans to issue work visas within 30 days.

 

The government also discussed plans to implement a new “Green Route” to streamline and simplify the immigration process for foreign workers. However, the country has yet to make a final decision.
