New Canada Innovation Stream Pilot

In April 2024, IRCC announced a new two-year Canada innovation stream Pilot. The innovation stream Pilot is part of the Global Hypergrowth Project. Under the Pilot stream, companies can now recruit foreign workers without the requirement of LMIA. 

High-skilled jobs can be classified under National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0, 1, 2, and 3. Skilled foreign workers can bring family members who can live and work in Canada with an open work permit.

The Innovation Stream Pilot will continue for two years and end on March 22, 2026. As part of Canada's Tech Strategy, another innovation stream will be introduced to hire skilled workers to build inventive businesses.

Eligibility Criteria for the Innovation Stream Pilot

You will be eligible to apply for the new Canada Innovation Work Permit if:

  • You have a job offer from an employer listed under the Global Hypergrowth Project.
  • Your job profile falls under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations as specified by the National Occupation Classification.
  • Your salary equals or exceeds the average hourly wage fixed for the region.
  • Your salary meets the standard salary threshold if a bargaining agreement covers your job role.
  • You have relevant skills for the job role to ensure the immigration officers.
  • You fulfill the minimum work experience and education required as per the National Occupation Classification.

List of Canadian companies eligible to hire through Innovation Stream

The Innovation Stream is a part of the Global Hypergrowth Project, which aims to meet the individual requirements of the participating company and provide distinctive solutions.

According to recent reports, eight Canadian companies can recruit skilled foreign workers without an LMIA.

The list of eligible companies is as follows:

  • Vive Crop Protection
  • Lightspeed Commerce
  • Duchesnay Pharmaceutical Group (DPG)
  • Clio
  • Clarius Mobile Health
  • CellCarta
  • AlayaCare
  • Ada Support Inc.
