My journey as a sales manager from Dubai to Canada

 

Sales is the backbone of any business and sales has been my career choice from the start.

I am a Sales manager by profession, an immigrant by choice. This is the story of my journey from Dubai to Canada. My name is Raunak Sharma and this is how I successfully migrated to Canada.

I always wanted to make sales as my career. I very well realize the importance of sales and its contribution to the success of a company. I know this very well owing to my 12 years of experience in a sales role.

How I became a sales manager

It is for a fact that one does not become a sales manager in a few years. It takes the right education and work experience. You need at least five years of experience in sales, but first you need to have a degree in business marketing or business administration. I did my Bachelors of Business Administration or BBA from Sage University in Indore and later an MBA from Jaipuria Institute of Management in the same city.

While doing my MBA I got campus placement and got a job offer from Amazon, India. I took up the offer and my work experience there helped me develop skills such as building client relationship, soft skills which has helped me in my career till date.

Decision to work abroad

After 3 years of working in Amazon, I decided to work abroad and make a career abroad. I applied for jobs and was lucky to get a job as a sales manager in a top manufacturing firm in Dubai.

After five years of working in Dubai, I started thinking of moving to a country where I could migrate permanently and experience a better quality of life. My choice was Canada.

Reasons to choose Canada

Canada held the promise of a better lifestyle and personal freedom.  There are numerous job opportunities available, and sales professionals are among the top occupations in demand here. Canada, for its part, has a long history of welcoming newcomers and assisting them in assimilating into Canadian society.

Choosing an immigration consultant

Since the application process for Canada requires meticulous preparation and planning, I was not very confident about success if I handled it on my own, I wanted to go through an immigration consultant who would help me with the process and ensure that the application will be successful.

I wanted to choose the right consultant because some of my friends had a bad experience with consultants who made tall claims and promises but could not deliver even though they charged a high amount for their services.

I wanted to be very careful while choosing an immigration consultant for my Canada PR application.

Canada Immigration process

After ensuring that I was eligible to apply for Canada PR and had the required points,  I started the procedure by gathering my documentation,  IELTS, ECA with the guidance provide by Y-Axis, Then I spent my time deciding which occupational code in Canada would be appropriate for my scenario. NOC 001 was my work code for immigration to Canada (corporate sales manager).

After this I created my Express Entry profile for skilled worker immigration to Canada through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, which is part of the Express Entry system run by the Canadian federal government.

Choosing the PNP option

Based on the suggestion given by my  Y-Axis consultant, I decided to apply under the provincial nomination program for permanent residency in Canada.

Since I could not decide which province to choose, I selected the ‘all provinces’ option in my application. This would make my profile visible to all provinces whose PNP streams were linked with Express Entry.

I managed to get a nomination from British Columbia. With the help of Y-Axis, I prepaed the complete application and submitted my application before the deadline given by the province. The Canada process team at the Y-axis office in Dubai  provided the right guidance throughout the application process.

I moved on to stage 2 of the application procedure after completing my PNP application and submitting it. That is, you must wait for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to notice your Express Entry profile and invite you to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to apply for permanent residence in Canada directly. The Express Entry method is only open to those who have been invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada. You cannot apply without first receiving an invitation from IRCC, known as an Invitation to Apply [ITA].

 An invitation to the IRCC is given to the profiles with the highest amount of points on Canada's ranking system. There are a total of 1200 points available. Understanding the CRS is critical because it allows you to assess your prospects of receiving an ITA from the IRCC. Always double-check with IRCC before using any other Canada eligibility calculator or CRS calculator tool online. The points system is always being updated. Only the official government websites of Canada's federal government are guaranteed to have all the newest information and changes.

I got an ITA  from IRCC during the subsequent draw after the PNP nomination. My whole Canada permanent residency application was filed within a week after receiving the invitation from IRCC. We had already kept all the documents and details worked out well in advance, as instructed by my Y-Axis consultant. The invitation was all that was required. It is referred to as creating a Decision Ready Application, which is complete in every manner.

Landing in Canada

I finally landed in Canada. With the help of Y-axis, my PR application to Canada was successful and  I was able to achieve my dream of migrating to Canada.
