Manitoba conducted its 94th Provincial Nominee Program (Provincial Nominee Program) draw on July 16, 2020. In the draw, 174 LAAs (Letters of Advice) were sent to immigration candidates. The LAAs (also simply called ‘invitation’) are sent to deserving candidates to invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence (PR).
The LAAs were issued under 3 streams to candidates of Manitoba PNP (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program). The streams were:
Among the 174 candidates, 18 had profiles in the federal Express Entry system. In 2020, as yet, Manitoba has issued 2,634 invitations.
The chosen immigration candidates must register an EOI (Expression of Interest) with the MPNP. Only then will they be eligible to receive an LAA via 2 categories:
These candidates are assigned rank out of 1,000 points. This will be based on human capital characters like age, work experience, education, English or French language skills, Manitoba connection, and more.
The minimum score required by eligible candidates from the Skilled Workers Overseas category was 811 points.
The minimum score required by eligible candidates from Skilled Workers in Manitoba category was 430.
Only candidates who got the required points received LAAs.
Manitoba will nominate only those skilled workers from both the categories mentioned above who can support the labor market needs of the province to work in Canada.
The overseas workers who apply via MPNP should have connections in Manitoba. This could be a previous experience in the or close family ties or friends in the province, or an invitation under any of MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.
An eligible candidate isn’t needed to be physically present in Manitoba when the application is submitted. The candidates who successfully get selected from the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category will have to meet certain criteria. This includes having an offer for a full-time permanent job from an employer in Manitoba.
Also, under the International Education Stream, an international student who graduated from an educational institution in Manitoba may get an invitation (LAA). They need to have skills that are in demand.
