Statistics Canada conducted a Labor Force Survey that issues report on the job vacancy rate. The job vacancy rate is the measure of the number of vacant job positions as a proportion of the total jobs in Canada. The job vacancy rate has reached a record high in the Q2 of 2021.
The expectation for Q3 as regards job vacancy rate is only going up.

Job sectors and opportunities
The greatest demand that was recorded in Q2 was for nurses. Also, vacancies in the healthcare & social assistance sector by about 60% from Q2 of 2019 to Q2 of 2021. This is the largest jump seen in any job sector in Canada.
This increase led to the number of job vacancies in the healthcare sector touch 108,000. The demand for nurses increased by about 86%.
As the job vacancies in the healthcare sector are increasing, there is an increase in average salary also. The salaries of registered nurses/psychiatric nurses have gone up by about 6% when compared to Q2 of 2019.
In the construction industry where job vacancies increased around 46% compared to 2019, prospects have improved significantly.
Another job sector that's showing great prospects with increased job vacancies is retail trades. The country is in great need of staff workers like clerks, shelf stockers, and order fillers in stores and renovation outlets.
In other hospitality establishments like hotels and restaurants, job vacancies have gone up by close to 15% when compared to 2019.
