Latest Manitoba draw issues invites to 153 candidates

Manitoba hosted another draw on April 9, 2020, adding to the Canada immigration programs. The Canadian province has invited 153 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. These candidates invited by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) had filed their Express of Interest (EOI) profile. They filed it through one of the 3 immigration streams namely:

Total	153

Of these 153 invitations, 15 were sent to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile.

Manitoba’s EOI system

A provincial nomination from Manitoba can be obtained via the categories of Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba. If candidates desire to be invited for a provincial nomination through both these categories, they must register an EOI with the MPNP.

An EOI is an online profile ranked out of a score of 1,000 points. The points awarded to candidates are based on the candidate’s education, work experience, Manitoba connections and skill in English or French. There are other factors too.

Candidates of the April 9 draw, invited under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, got a score of 500.The candidate with the lowest rank, invited under the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, got a score of 742.

Skilled Workers from overseas and in Manitoba

The Skilled Workers Overseas category allows the MPNP to nominate skilled immigrant workers who support Manitoba’s labor market.

Candidates must have close family or friends in Manitoba who help establish a legitimate connection with the province. This connection could also be via education or work experience in the province. An invitation through one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives could also qualify as a legit connection.

The candidate needn’t be in Manitoba while submitting an application for eligibility.

The candidates who got their invitation through the Skilled Workers Overseas stream were invited directly by the MPNP. They were invited under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

The candidates who got invited through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer. There are other criteria too.

International Education Stream

Manitoba international graduate students with in-demand skills may be invited under the International Education Stream. This stream includes 3 sub-categories:

• Graduate Internship Pathway
• Career Employment Pathway
• Student Entrepreneur Pathway
