Germany now allows foreign students to work even before starting their studies in Germany under the new skilled worker law from March 2024. This move aims to attract qualified workers in Germany, as reported by SchengenVisaInfo.
The new visa regulations introduced by Germany allowing international students to work while studying will help students from lower-income families to pursue foreign education. The second part of the new skilled worker law, enacted in November 2023, extends the advantages to apprentices and graduates.

Non-EU students can now come to Germany nine months before their academic course and are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week.
The following are the benefits offered to international students coming to study in Germany:
Aspiring students were allowed to come to Germany nine months before their studies started, but under the new changes, students can even start working before their academic course begins.
Apprenticeship applicants in Germany can also start working before and after starting their apprenticeship work or while searching for one.
There are two main requirements specified for applicants:

University graduates in Germany from non-EU countries are allowed to stay in Germany for up to 18 months after graduation to search for jobs. They will be eligible for permanent residency in Germany after two years of minimum work experience.
Individuals planning a career change must change their visa to a German skilled Worker Visa or an EU Blue Card. Graduates from universities or vocational schools accredited by authorities in their respective countries can come to Germany, provided they have a minimum work experience of two years in related fields.
