Highlights: IRCC held the first-ever Express Entry STEM Draw

• The Express Entry STEM Draw sent invitations to 500 qualified candidates.
• The first Express Entry STEM Draw was conducted on July 5, 2023.
• Candidates from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields were eligible for this STEM based Express Entry Draw.
• IRCC held its second round of category based Express Entry round of invitations in the first week of July.
• The minimum CRS score set for the EE Draw was 486.

The IRCC announced the introduction of a Category-based selection Draw on May 31, 2023. The IRCC officially announced the Express Entry STEM Draw in the last week of June.

Category-based selection Draw

Sean Fraser announced the introduction of Category-based selection for Express Entry Draws. Six categories were included in the category-based selection EE Draw that are mentioned below:

• Healthcare
• Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
• Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
• Transportation
• Agriculture and Agri-food
• Strong French language proficiency
