According to the annual report by the European Migration Network (EMN), there has been a huge influx of foreign workers in Finland. The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) issued 34,557 work-based residence permits in 2023. Among those, 15,081 were new residence permits, and 19,476 were extended permits.
As compared to 2022, there has been a significant increase in the number of work-based residence permits being issued by Finland. This shows that Finland is successfully retaining foreign workers in the country.

Recent statistics by Finland Officials show that family ties are one of the major reasons for issuing residence permits in Finland. In 2023, the Finnish authorities granted 20,278 permits based on family ties. 5732 applications were received from asylum seekers.
