August 2022 ended with another round of Express Entry draw with 2,750 invitations sent to apply for a Canada PR visa. On August 31, 2022, Canada immigration candidates from the FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program), FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program), and CEC (Canadian Experience Class) immigration streams were selected.

A brief on the recent changes made in Express Entry

Won’t it be a good thing to be refreshed some of the changes made to the Express Entry system in the recent past? Here we bring you a summary of those changes:

• On November 16, 2022, IRCC will switch from the current NOC system to the new TEER system of occupational identification to determine eligibility.
• In the near future, IRCC will conduct occupation-based Express Entry draws as per the amendments proposed under Bill C-19. After this, the Minister of IRCC will get more say in the decision taken in choosing Canada immigration candidates.
• IRCC has raised the requirement for POF (Proof of Funds) for Express Entry candidates for 2022.
• Canada has decided to extend the current status for all foreign applicants who are filing an application for a work permit, study permit, or temporary resident visa from outside Canada. They have to submit their applications online by March 31, 2023.
• The latest Immigration levels plan for the period 2022-24 is currently set in the following manner:
  • Year 2022 - 431,645 newcomers
  • Year 2023 - 447,055 newcomers
  • Year 2024 - 451,000 newcomers
• In all, the Canadian government will send invites to approximately 1.5 million newcomers by the end of 2024.
• French-speaking Express Entry candidates will be granted additional CRS points for their proficiency in the French language. Here are the specifics:
  • For French-speaking candidates, the number of points increases from 15 to 25.
  • For bilingual candidates, the points will be raised from 30 to 50.
