The IRCC conducted an Express Entry draw on November 9, 2022. A total of 4,750 Canada immigration candidates received ITAs (invitations) to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

This draw was the same as the previous draw in the number of invitations sent. However, the minimum CRS score required was reduced by 2 points; from 496 to 494.

IRCC ranks Express Entry candidates present in the pool of applicants using a system that evaluates profiles on the basis of points. The score is assigned under what’s known as the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System).

Invitations to selected candidates are issued through Express Entry draws about every two weeks. These are candidates in the Express Entry pool who have the highest CRS scores, determined on the basis of human capital factors such as age, educational qualification, work experience, and language skills.

What are the new changes in Express Entry?

Here’s a summary of the recently announced changes in Express Entry:

• On November 16, 2022, IRCC will switch from the current NOC 2016 system to the new NOC 2021 (TEER) system.
• Soon, IRCC will conduct Express Entry draws based on occupational skills. These amendments were proposed under Bill C-19 by which the Minister of IRCC will get to decide which Canada immigration candidates must be invited. This selection will be done based on the skills in demand and required on priority.
• IRCC has raised the amount required to be shown via POF (Proof of Funds) for Express Entry candidates in 2022.
• Canada will extend the current status for all overseas applicants applying for a study permit, work permit, or temporary resident visa from beyond the Canadian border. They are required to make submission of their online applications before March 31, 2023.
• The Immigration levels plan for 2022-2024 is set as follows:
  • Newcomers in 2022 - 431,645
  • Newcomers in 2023 - 447,055
  • Newcomers in 2024 - 451,000
• The Government of Canada will issue invitations to approximately 1.5 million new immigrants before the end of 2024.
• It’s been decided to grant additional CRS points to francophone Express Entry candidates. These points will be for their language proficiency in French. Check out the following:
  • For candidates who are francophones, the points will increase to 25 from 15.
  • For candidates who are bilingual, the points will be increased to 50 from 30.
