Top 8 pathways to acquire a U.S Green Card  

Given below are the top 8 pathways to get a U.S Green Card:

 

Green Card via Family:

Candidates with family members who are citizens of the U.S. can seek P.R. status. The family member residing in the U.S. must be an immediate relative, which includes a fiancé or widower. 

 

Green Card through Employment:

Immigrant workers with extraordinary skills in arts, sciences, business, athletics, or education are eligible for this category of Green card.

The following list of professionals can also qualify for the Green Card via employment:

  • If you are a physician willing to work full-time in clinical practice for a given period.
  • If you are an Immigrant who has invested or is willing to invest at least $1 Million in a U.S.-based organization that will provide full-time employment to a minimum of 10 employees.

Green Card as a Special Immigrant:

Immigrant workers with exceptional arts, sciences, business, athletics, or education skills qualify under this category.

The following list of professionals can also be eligible for the Green Card via employment:

Green Card through Refugee or Asylee Status:

Candidates granted asylum status dating back to a year ago or registered as refugees 12 months ago qualify under this category, provided they meet the required eligibility criteria. 

 

Green Card for Human Trafficking and Crime Victims:

Candidates who have been victims of human trafficking or are T-Non-immigrant visa holders can qualify under this category. The Human Trafficking and Crime Victims category is also applicable for candidates who are victims of crime and possess an active U non-immigrant visa.

 

Green Card for Victims of Abuse:

Candidates who are VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) self-petitioners, victims of extreme cruelty, or a victim of battery qualify for this category, provided:

  • If you happen to be an abused child, spouse, or parent of a Citizen of the U.S.
  • If you happen to be an abused child or spouse of a citizen or native of Cuba.
  • If you happen to be an abused spouse or child of a legal P.R. who acquired a Green card via the (Haitian Refugee Immigrant Fairness Act) HRIFA.

 

Green Card through Registry:

Candidates living in the U.S. before January 1, 1972, are eligible for this category.

 

Green Card through Other Categories:

Candidates who belong to any of the groups mentioned below are eligible for this category:

  • If you have been selected for a diversity visa in the lottery of Department of State's diversity visa.
  • If you are a native or citizen of Cuba.
  • If you are an Indian-American born in Canada.
  • If you were born to a foreign diplomat in the U.S.
  • If you were deployed in the States as a diplomat or high-cadre official with no chance of returning home.  
  • If you have been present in the States since November 20, 2014, and are a Liberian national.
