On August 5, 2021, Canada held its 200th Express Entry draw that invited 3,000 immigration candidates.
With this draw, the total number of ITAs issued by Canada in 2021 crossed 100,000 to reach 102,316. This includes 7,663 ITAs through PNP draws, and 94,653 ITAs through 15 CEC draws. The CEC draw held on Feb 27, 2021, created an all-time record of 27,332 ITAs being issued.
Since the beginning of 2021, Canada has been resorting to immigration draws specific to PNP and CEC candidates. This is because these candidates are mostly available in Canada and have Canadian experience.
In 2020, Canada had issued 107,350 ITAs. This was a remarkable achievement for the country going through the COVID-19 crisis.
About Express Entry
Express Entry is a points-based application management system used by the federal government to manage applications for immigration. These applications are filed for 3 federal high-skilled immigration programs namely CEC, FSTP, and FSWP.
[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9R4Qf65vnw[/embed]The applicants to Express Entry have their profiles added to a candidate pool that's accessible to both federal and provincial governments. Every candidate profile is ranked by CRS with scores assigned. Factors like age, education, work experience, and skills in Canada’s official language are considered to decide the scores.
When provincial governments choose Express Entry candidates through PNP draws, they automatically add 600 extra points to their original CRS scores. This way, the candidates get a higher score that will increase their chances to get an ITA to the near surety in a forthcoming federal immigration draw.
The highest-scoring Express Entry candidates are invited by IRCC to apply for Canada PR when they take part in regular invitation rounds. Those who are invited can officially apply for Canada immigration.
