On January 20, 2021, Canada conducted its third Express Entry immigration draw of 2021 and invited 374 PNP candidates. The minimum score required of the chosen candidates was 741.
Skilled workers find Express Entry as the main Canada immigration pathway. These candidates participate in immigration draws for Canada PR. The average number of new immigrations annually expected by Canada under the Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-2023 is 110,000. Express Entry is the main immigration channel that invites applications from skilled workers for programs like FSTP, FSWP, and CEC.
Express Entry features a 2-step process. In the first step, eligible candidates will upload their profile to IRCC’s website. These profiles get added to an Express Entry pool where they are ranked by CRS based on factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills in English/French.
In the next step, IRCC holds Express Entry immigration draws bi-weekly and issues ITAs for Canada PR to candidates who get the highest CRS scores. Upon receiving an ITA, the candidate can go ahead and apply for a Canada PR visa to IRCC.
If a candidate is nominated for immigration by a Canadian province, he/she will get an additional CRS score of 600 points. This will guarantee that the candidate will come up on top among those issued an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
The requirement for skilled candidates can occur in any province of Canada where skilled workers are needed to meet the labor market needs. PNP helps provincial Canadian employers to find the best candidates from the Express Entry pool of profiles.
Canada has maintained its immigration draws on the federal and provincial levels even while COVID-19 was creating a great deal of strain in operations. Canada considers immigrants as vital to reviving its economy post-COVID-19.
