Highlights of PGP invitations in 2022

  • Canada invited 18,903 new permanent residents through Canada Parents and Grandparents Program
  • The percentage of invitations through PGP was increased by 233.5 percent by August 2022

Canada PGP may invite 28,237 parents and grandparents by the end of 2022

According to a report through IRCC, Canada invited 18,903 parents and grandparents in the first eight months of 2022. This number is more than double in comparison to the same period in 2021. By August end, the number of invitations through Canada PGP was raised by 13,180 which was 233.5 percent higher than the first eight months in 2021.

Invitations were raised by 16.3 percent in 2022 in comparison to 2019. As per the current trend, on an average, 2,353 invitations have been issued through PGP and Canada can invite 28,237 parents and grandparents by the end of 2022.

In the Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024, Canada has the target of inviting 25,000 parents and grandparents through PGP. Now the target has been increased to 28,500.

In 2021, Canada invited 406,025 immigrants which also included 11,740 invitations through PGP.

The surge in the number of invitations to parents and grandparents in 2022 may also continue in 2023.

New PGP invitations issued in October

Canada has completed the process of issuing 23,100 invitations through the Canada PGP program last week. IRCC announced that invitations have been issued to those candidates who submitted the interest to sponsor in 2020.

Immigration authorities have expectations to receive 15,000 completed applications and applicants have 60 days to apply for a Canada PR visa.
