Canada is a dream destination for many migrants who want to work overseas. One of the most migrant-friendly countries offers a nice quality of life, excellent healthcare facilities, top-class educational institutions for diverse courses, a multicultural society, and a peaceful environment. *Check your eligibility to Canada with the help of Y-Axis Canada Immigration Points calculator.

As per the 2021 Annual Report tabled on Immigration, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC), the government of Canada intends to welcome 431,645 new permanent residents (PRs) in 2022, with the figures for 2023 and 2024 being 447,055 and 451,000, respectively.

Of them, in 2022, this North American country plans to welcome 1.3 million immigrants in the period 2022 to 2024 in a bid to revive its economic growth that was affected by the pandemic. Moreover, the period between April 2020 and January 2022 saw more than 198,900 being issued Canadian citizenship. Meanwhile, the government will invite most of the new migrants through the Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in the next two years.

Around 83,500 migrants will be welcomed through PNPs in 2022, while the target for Express Entry in 2023 is 75,750. In 2024, newcomers to Canada under Express Entry will touch 111,500.

Around 105,000 new migrants will be allowed into Canada through pathways under the family reunification program in 2022. The number of refugees, family reunification, and asylum seekers will also continue to be retained. On the other hand, PRs and citizens will be allowed to sponsor spouses/partners, dependent or adopted children, parents, and grandparents as part of family reunification.

Focusing on economic programs

On the other hand, immigrants will continue to enter Canada under the economic class programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC), besides Self-Employed Persons and the Start-up Visa programs.

In March 2022, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced that IRCC had exceeded its goal of issuing 147,000 PRs in the first quarter of 2022, double the number compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

In 2021, Canada surpassed its target achieved in 1913 by allowing in the year 2021 more than 401,000 new permanent residents (PRs).

Figures from the federal government of Canada suggest that the labor force of Canada contributes significantly to the growth of the country. It is predicted that immigrants will comprise 30% of the population of Canada by 2036 as opposed to 20.7% in 2011.

In fact, immigration plugs shortages of skills in the vital health care sector. Immigration per occupation in health care is pharmacists (37%), dentists (39%), physicians (36%), aides of nurses and associated occupations (35%), and the total number of registered nurses (23%).

Most Canadian will now begin processing permanent residence and citizenship services dynamically. Processing is already being done dynamically for temporary residence services.
