Canada immigration to benefit as jobs added to Canadian labor market

Very positive development of the Canadian economy was registered in October 2021. This makes Canada even more attractive a destination for immigrants to move to. In October 2021, Canada added 31,000 jobs to its economy. This coincided with the fall in unemployment for the fifth month straight this year. The latest Labor Force Survey by Statistics Canada revealed the status of the period between October 10 and 16. It was in this week that many Canadian provinces implemented initiatives for proof of vaccination. Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario removed capacity limits. They were replaced with proof-of-vaccine requirements.

Unemployment fell to a low level of 6.7% in October 2021, which was the lowest in 20 months. This was close to the pre-pandemic levels of 5.7% in February 2020.

Other developments include the following:

• Compared to the number of people who would want to get employed in the accommodation and food services industries before the pandemic, the number of unemployed workers reduced considerably in October 2021.
• There was a huge growth in industries like scientific, technical, and professional that indicates that there’s a need for many more skilled professionals to fill vacant positions.
• The number of very recent immigrants reaching Canada has increased from 184,000 newcomers in 2020 to 267,000 newcomers in 2021. Those immigrants who have lived in Canada for 5 years or less are known as “very recent immigrants.

All this shows the bright side of a hopeful scenario unfolding in Canada owing to progress in steps taken to revive the economy and provide better resistance to the COVID-19 pandemic.
