An Express Entry immigration draw was conducted by Canada on April 16, 2021, inviting 6,000 CEC candidates with a minimum score of 417. IRCC invited the CEC candidates to apply for Canada PR. The number of invites was 1,000 more than the previous CEC-only draw held by Canada. The minimum score requirement in that draw was 15 points lesser than the April 16 draw.
This was also the second-largest round of invitations in the history of Express Entry. IRCC has increased the size of Canada immigration draws to make up for the loss of immigrants in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tie-break rule was applied in this draw, with the timestamp of March 1, 2021, at 19:53:46 UTC. This meant that only those candidates with at least 417 as CRS score and have submitted their Express Entry profiles before the time and date in the timestamp stood a chance to be eligible for getting an invite.
IRCC is giving priority to CEC candidates as they are already present in the country and are not affected by the border restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. Besides that, these candidates already have a good experience of the Canadian environment. This will help them easily adapt to the new opportunities in Canada.
