On February 9, 2021, British Columbia invited 74 new immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR. This was a BC PNP Tech Pilot draw.
The candidates chosen came under Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories. They belonged to the International Graduate and Skilled Worker and were expected to have a minimum provincial score of 80 points.
The Tech Pilot acts as an immigration pathway on a fast-track basis. It allows in-demand workers in the tech industry to arrive and work in Canada. It also brings in international students.
To be eligible for the program, the candidates must register themselves in any of the BC’s currently active provincial immigration streams. They must also have an offer for a job in BC that’s valid for at least 12 months. The job must be present in the list of 29 eligible jobs under Tech Pilot.
A profile created via BC PNP’s online portal is necessary for the candidates to apply for Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories. They must register themselves under BC PNP’s SIRS.
Based on many factors including work experience, education level, and a BC employment offer, the applicants’ profiles are evaluated. Then it’s determined who all can be invited to apply in a particular invitation round.
With a nomination form BC, Express Entry candidates will get extra 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing them an ITA in an Express Entry draw that’s conducted afterward.
The invited candidates must file a detailed application within 30 days of receiving the invitation.
