British Columbia has invited 58 new immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR. The invites were issued in this Tech Pilot draw held on December 29, 2020, to candidates with a job offered in the technology sector.
The chosen candidates were selected under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories. The sub-categories from which candidates were selected were International Graduates and Skilled Worker. All the candidates required to have a minimum provincial score of 80 points.
The BC Tech Pilot is an immigration pathway for tech-skilled candidates to work in Canada in the tech industry. Tech Pilot works through British Columbia’s currently active provincial immigration streams.
To be eligible for the Tech Pilot program a candidate must have a valid offer for a job in BC. This job must be of at least 12 months’ validity and must be one listed in Tech Pilot’s 29 eligible jobs.
To apply for the Express Entry or Skills Immigration categories, the candidates must create a profile via BC PNP’s online portal. This portal is known as SIRS. Profiles that are submitted via SIRS are ranked using a points-based system. The factors that are considered for ranking include work experience, education, job type, and proficiency in the English language.
Candidates with highest scores get ITAs for provincial nomination. International Graduate and Skilled Worker sub-categories of the EEBC makes use of SIRS to send invites. These sub-categories are linked to the federal Express Entry system. British Columbia PNP can thus nominate skilled candidates with an Express Entry profile to work in Canada.
Such nominated candidates will get 600 extra CRS points that ensures them that they will get an ITA in a future federal Express Entry draw.
