On March 16, 2021, British Columbia issued 506 invitations to immigration candidates to apply for a provisional nomination for Canada PR.
Candidates from SI and EEBC streams of BC PNP were invited during the draw. The candidates specifically belonged to the sub-categories of International Graduate, Skilled Worker, and Entry-level/Semi-skilled of both the streams.
Two separate draws were held: one for NOC 0621 (Retail & wholesale trade managers) and NOC 0631 (Restaurant & food service managers). 78 invitations were issued to those working in these jobs. The minimum provincial score required of them was 114. The remaining 428 invited candidates had scores between 81 and 96.
The following was how the distribution of invites was done:
BC has invited 2,432 PNP candidates till now in 2021.
About the BC PNP
BC PNP attempts to find skilled foreign workers willing to take on the status of a Canadian permanent resident who is in high demand in the province.
The streams of SI and EEBC under BC PNP are managed under BC’s SIRS. To apply via SIRS, the candidate must first register an account. After that, the candidate will be given a score based on factors like work experience, education, and proficiency in English and French language.
Candidates who score the highest from each sub-category are issued invites to apply for a provincial nomination at the time of BC’s regular draws. A candidate has 30 days from the date of receipt of the invite to file a complete application via the British Columbia PNP online system.
Once you file a complete application the candidate will be informed of the province’s decision within approximately 2 to 3 months. If the nomination finds success, the candidate gets the eligibility to apply to IRCC for Canada PR status under the provincial nominee class. The validity of the nomination is approximately 6 months counting from the confirmation date.
About EEBC stream
The EEBC stream is connected to the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry candidates get points based on factors such as work experience, education, age, and language proficiency in English or French. The score is assigned by the CRS.
The candidates must meet the minimum criteria for one of the Express Entry programs of the IRCC namely FSWP, FSTP, and CEC.
As a provincial nominee, a candidate may get an extra 600 CRS points. Such candidates will have a score high enough to get an ITA in an upcoming federal Express Entry draw.
