British Columbia (BC) issued invitations to 437 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada on August 7, 2020. These candidates belonged to British Columbia PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) categories of Entry-level & Semi-skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Skilled Worker.
The minimum provincial score required by these Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC candidates was between 76 and 98 points. The score depended on the sub-category involved in the draw.
The Skilled Worker category needed a minimum provincial score of 97, while International Graduate candidates needed 98 points.
Candidates have access to the Express Entry BC if they have their profiles in the federal Express Entry system. This system manages a pool of potential candidates who come under Canada’s 3 federal skilled immigration programs namely:
The Express Entry candidates that get a provincial nomination for permanent residence in BC will get an extra 600 points upon their CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score. It effectively guarantees that they will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for permanent residence in Canada in a federal Express Entry draw.
Skills Immigration stream has 3 subcategories. Here are their respective provincial score requirements:
The candidates in all 3 main categories must register with the BC PNP SIRS (Skills Immigration Registration System). This should be done once they complete submitting their profile with BC PNP’s online system.
SIRS is a points-based system. It's used by the BC PNP to evaluate candidates. They are ranked on the basis of factors like work experience, education, age, and English/French proficiency.
All candidates from Express Entry and Skills Immigration must have a full-time, indeterminate job offer with an employer in BC.
