British Columbia has invited immigration candidates on October 14, 2020, to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR. ITAs were sent to 417 eligible candidates by the BC PNP via the Skills Immigration and EEBC streams.
The candidates were sent invites under thesub-categories of International Graduate and Skilled Workers. Also invited were candidates from the subcategory of Entry-level and Semi-skilled under the Skills Immigration stream.
The minimum score stipulated for candidates from all categories ranged between 75 and 94. The COVID-19 led to the dropping of 31 occupations as the pandemic affected regional businesses.
The BC PNP immigration draw takes place every week. It was just 2 weeks ago that the province issued 450 ITAs, which was also the largest BC PNP draw conducted this year.
Another kind of immigration draws that British Columbia PNP conducts is the Tech Pilot draw. This draw invites tech-skilled candidates to apply for a nomination for PR in the province. There are 29 eligible jobs to which candidates can apply. The draw is a major source of recruiting foreign IT workers in Canada, solving the labor market need for such skilled candidates.
Only those candidates who have registered in any one of BC’s currently active provincial immigration streams as well as have a valid job offer will be considered eligible under the Tech Pilot. The job offered would be of a minimum duration of12 months in one of the eligible occupations under Tech Pilot.
In order to apply for EEBC or Skills Immigration categories, Canada immigration candidates will first have to create a profile via BC PNP’s online portal as well as register under its SIRS.
Evaluation of candidate profiles is done based on human capital factors such as education, age, work experience, location of employment, and proficiency in English. In case BC approves a candidate and nominates him/her, such nomination can be used by the candidate while applying for PR with IRCC.
Such nomination will also add 600 extra points to the CRS scores of candidates which will ensure that they will receive an ITA in an Express Entry draw conducted in the future.
