What is OSCA?

OSCA, or the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia, was announced after two years of intensive research, which included 800 submissions, 1000 reviewed occupations, and 2,000 stakeholders. The new OSCA was designed as an upgraded version of the ANZSCO.

The factors that are newly added to the OSCA include:

  • 1,156 occupations (compared to 1,076 in ANZSCO 2022)
  • 421 Unit Groups (compared to 364 in ANZSCO 2022)
  • 300 new occupations were added, and 250 outdated occupations were excluded.

What are the benefits of OSCA?

The OSCA aims to address the growing demands of the Australian labor market.

Some of the major benefits of OSCA as compared to ANZSCO are as follows:

  • OSCA includes the list of updated occupations that are currently emerging or in demand and those that meet the labor market needs, like the inclusion of 231133: Content Creator (Social Media)
  • OSCA has detailed and simplified information about the occupations
  • OSCA is more flexible and adaptive to the current changes in the Australian workforce.
