Canada’s Quebec province has placed a limit on the number of applications accepted under its business immigration programs that include:
Ministerial orders to this effect have been introduced following an announcement from the MIFI.
Quebec has also extended the currently applied criteria for issuing ITAs to candidates of the Quebec Skilled Worker Program via the Arrima Expression of Interest System. The application process for Quebec’s Refugee Sponsorship Program has also been changed.
Quebec Entrepreneur Program
Under the first stream of the Program, Quebec will accept 25 applications from November 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. This stream is meant for immigrants arriving in Quebec to set up a business with support from a business incubator, a business accelerator, and a university Entrepreneurship center.
Applications for the second stream of this program are currently suspended for a year to conduct its review and improvement. This stream caters to those who intend to start a new business or buy an existing one. If it’s a new business, the entrepreneur must control a minimum of 25% of it. If it’s an acquired business, the entrepreneur must control 51% of the business.
Quebec Self-Employed Program
For the Quebec Sel-Employed Program, the province will accept 50 applications from November 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. The candidates for this program can qualify by meeting the following criteria:
Quebec Refugee Sponsorship applications
Requests for sponsorship commitment from groups of 2 to 5 individuals will be accepted by Quebec from April 6, 2021, to May 5, 2021. The requests haveto be submitted online. Successful candidates who can migrate to Canada will be selected through a random draw.
MIFI will receive 750 applications in 2021, as per the statement it has released. Applications from organizations are under suspension until November 1, 2021. There’s a administrative and criminal investigation to be conducted to counter certain serious allegations.
