In a PNP draw conducted by Canada’s Alberta province on April 20, 2021, 200 Express Entry candidates got invited. They received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination from Alberta.
The minimum CRS score that was required from the candidates was 301. This score was a point lower than the one in the Canada PNP draw held previously.
Once these candidates become eligible for provincial nomination via Alberta Express Entry Stream, they will receive 600 additional CRS points. This will increase their chances of getting invited to apply for Canada PR.
The AINP manages the immigration applications. Its Alberta Express Entry Stream is an enhanced PNP. The candidates under this stream must have a profile made in the Express Entry system.
The Canada immigration Express Entry system
Canada manages immigration applications via its Express Entry system. The Express Entry system manages immigration applications for the federal high-skilled programs of CEC, FSTP, and FSWP.
Every immigration candidate profile submitted in the system is ranked by CRS. The scores for ranking are assigned by considering the candidate’s human capital factors. These include work experience, education, age, and language skills in English or French.
IRCC regularly holds immigration draws at the federal level to invite immigration candidates. The candidates with the highest CRS scores will be sent an invite to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
When Canadian provinces find suitable immigration candidates for their provinces, they nominate such candidates for immigration. These candidates get 600 additional CRS points which will increase their chances to receive ITAs in an upcoming Canada federal Express Entry draw.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream
This is an enhanced PNP that brings Express Entry candidates to Alberta. These candidates typically have connections with Alberta. This could be family members, previous work experience, or a job offer from Alberta.
The candidates are chosen for their skills and ability to render support to the provincial government’s economic development activities and priorities for diversification.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Alberta stuck to considering only those immigration candidates who lived and worked in the province already.
