In a draw that happened recently in Canada immigration, Alberta invited more Express Entry candidates. The candidates were eligible to apply for a provincial nomination. That will lead them to permanent residence in Canada.
Details on the draw conducted March 18, 2020, came forth as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) released them. In the draw, 136 candidates were invited to apply via the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
The invited candidates had their profiles in the federal Express Entry pool. That is the pool immigration Canada use to find eligible candidates. The candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 points.
When invited via the Alberta Express Entry Stream, the candidates do not need a job offer to get invited. But it’s necessary for them to have their profiles in the Express Entry system.
Candidates invited in the most recent Alberta draw are now allowed to submit an application for a provincial nomination from the AINP. Upon successfully obtaining the nomination, these candidates will be automatically granted 600 points. This will be added to their overall CRS score. This can be used in a forthcoming federal Express Entry draw. This effectively gets them a guarantee that they will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
The eligible candidates for Express Entry are ranked on human capital factors. These include education, work experience, age, and official language skill. After considering these aspects, they are given a CRS score.
The candidates who score highest are invited. They get to apply for permanent residence. They will apply through federal Express Entry draws.
The eligibility for an invitation through the Alberta Express Entry System is conditional. The candidate must be working in a job that contributes to the economic development of Alberta. It should also take care of Alberta’s diversification priorities.
It has to be noted that the AINP doesn’t provide a list of eligible occupations.
It's not essential to have a job offer to be fit for this stream. But the AINP may give priority to candidates who meet any of the following 3 criteria:
· A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta
· A Canadian post-secondary institution degree along with a valid job offer
· A parent, sibling, or child already living in the province
So far in 2020, Alberta has issued 887 invitations to Express Entry candidates. In 2019, Alberta had issued a total of 11,137 invitations. This was via the Alberta Express Entry stream.
