Details of the changes in the Work permit

Many countries have updated their work permit rules, such as:

Norway Streamlined Process for Skilled Workers:

Norway is facing labor shortages in specific sectors, so it plans to issue 6,000 residency permits for foreign workers in 2024. Norway focused on a simplified procedure for eligible candidates that prioritizes the industries.

Slovakia’s Diverse Visa Options:

Slovakia discloses a quota system for both skilled and highly qualified workers. Slovakia aims to address 2,000 visas for skilled workers and an additional 3,000 for highly qualified workers. Slovakia is focused on sector-based needs that also include transport and healthcare.

Germany Work Permit Quota and Special Initiatives:

In 2024, Germany sets a limit of 25,000 work permits for foreign workers. Germany is also ready to add provisions from the Western Balkans that aim to address shortages in various industries. From June 2024 onwards, Germany will grant 50,000 visa approvals for Western Balkan nationals.

No Implementation of Quotas in Slovenia:

Slovenia hasn’t placed any count for foreign workers for over a year. Instead, the country is focused on assessing labor needs according to the market.

Limiting Foreign Worker Numbers in Hungary:

Hungary is approaching a different way of inviting foreign skilled workers by decreasing the count of work and residency permits to 65,000 in 2024. Besides that, the government restricts employment in nearly 300 occupations to prioritize the citizens of the country.
