Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)

Canada’s Parents and Grandparents program (PGP) allows candidates to offer sponsorship to their parents and Grandparents for PR. The processing fee for the PGP program ranges from $1,080.

 

To sponsor your parents and grandparents, you must meet the given eligibility criteria:

• Must have an invitation to apply (ITA)
• Must be over 18 years of age
• Must be living in Canada
• Must be a citizen of Canada, PR, or registered in the country under the Canadian Indian Act.
• Must have sufficient funds to support the sponsored person.
• The parents, grandparents, and you must meet all the requirements set by the IRCC.

PGP Sponsorship Agreement

Candidates who live outside Quebec and follow their immigration system must support the sponsor financially.

 

As per the agreement, the sponsor must commit to the following things listed below:

• Offer financial support to the sponsor for at least 20 years after they acquire the PR status.
• Repay any social assistance the province offers to the family members during the given period.
• Agree to take up responsibilities during the undertaking process.

 

Some of the basic needs that should be provided by the sponsor to the family members are as follows:

• Clothing
• Personal requirements
• Food
• Shelter
• Utilities
