151,000 Italy Work Permits up for grabs from March 18

Highlights: 151,000 Italy work permits will be available starting March 18!

• Italy announced 151,000 slots for work permit applications for the year 2024. 
• Non-seasonal workers can apply on March 18 and 21.
• Seasonal workers can begin applying for work permits from March 25 onwards.  
• The work permit applications will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Italy work permit for international workers

The country is set to make 151,000 work permit applications available in 2024. 

The work permit applications are classified into three types of workers. 

• Non-seasonal workers from countries with bilateral or migration agreements with Italy
• Non-seasonal workers from countries with no bilateral or migration agreements with Italy
• Seasonal workers 

The application dates for different categories of applicants are mentioned in the table below:

Non-seasonal workers from countries with no  agreements with Italy	March 21, 2024
Seasonal workers	March 25, 2024

89,050 Italy work permit quota slots 

Authorities in Italy have allocated 89,050 quotas for the two groups of non-seasonal workers. Work permits under this quota will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants who apply well in advance will receive the work permit, provided they meet all the requirements.

61,250 spots will be allotted to non-seasonal workers, with 700 additional spots for self-employed foreign workers. 

Applicants are advised to apply for work permits when the application window opens, as the slots are usually fast-filled.

According to Italy’s organisation for agricultural businesses, Coldiretti, the highest number of foreign workers are from:

• Morocco
• Albania
• Senegal 
• Pakistan

Doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists are most in demand in the country. Italy is currently looking for skilled foreign workers in the following industries:

• Agriculture
• Tourism
• Hotel industries
