US Labor Department report shows growth in overall jobs and average hourly earnings

The US government continued adding more and more jobs in March, resulting in a 0.1% drop in the unemployment rate, i.e., from 3.4% to 3.5%. The US labour department stated that as per the employment report, the nonfarm payrolls rose to 236,000 jobs in March and is further expected to rise up to 239,000 jobs.

France likely to implement Major Visa changes in 2025

France has announced plans to implement a new Schengen visa reform this year. The new visa changes are set to become stricter for some and flexible for others. The country’s decision to introduce the reform comes as a response to address certain visa issues while also modernizing the system.

 

France wants to implement the Hermelin report and balance the sticker controls to avoid irregular migration. The country will also implement streamlined measures for specific categories of foreign nationals to promote academic, cultural, and economic changes.

List of Rules that could changes post the Schengen Visa Reform in 2025

The security checks for foreign nationals will likely become more streamlined, with the system being strengthened.

 

Some of the changes that could be introduced as part of the France Schengen visa reform in 2025 are as follows:

  • French authorities will be more cooperative with the member states by exchanging data on visa applicants. This will extend the Schengen Information System, helping them better review the applications.

German EU Blue Card Applicants to Now Earn €48,300 in 2025

Germany has increased the salary threshold for EU Blue Card applicants this year. Foreign nationals applying for an EU Blue Card in 2025 must have an annual salary of €48,300, an increase from the €45,300 last year. The salary requirements came into effect immediately starting January 1, 2025, and are applicable to all individuals seeking an EU Blue Card this year.

 

As per the German Federal Government, foreign nationals with an employment offer from a German company must earn at least €48,300 to become eligible for an EU Blue Card.

Germany hikes the salary threshold for Bottleneck Professions

The German authorities have also increased the salary threshold for several bottleneck professions, including STEM, Education, IT, and construction. Foreigner workers in any of the above professions must earn a minimum of €43,759.80 to apply for an EU Blue card in 2025.

 

In 2024, the annual salary requirements for bottleneck professions were set at €41,041.80, while the salary requirements for young professionals new to the German labor market were €41,041.80.
