Germany updates the EU Blue Card Policy 

Germany has updated the EU Blue Card program to facilitate more skilled workers to enter the country and work there. IT professionals, engineers, and healthcare workers are some of the eligible occupations that qualify for the EU Blue card. 

Here is the list of changes announced to the EU Blue Card policy in 2025:

  • The minimum salary requirements for skilled professionals will be reduced to €45,300, 1.5 times the average German salary. In contrast, Healthcare, IT, and Engineering professionals must meet a salary threshold of €41,041.80. 
  • The list of professions eligible for the EU Blue Card will be extended in the coming year. The country is currently looking for skilled workers in various sectors of IT, Engineering, and Healthcare. 
  • New graduates will now be able to apply for the EU Blue Card within 3 years of graduating from university. The salary requirement to qualify would be €41,041.80. 
  • IT professionals can now qualify for the EU Blue Card even without a degree, provided they have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience. 
  • The EU Blue Card application process will be streamlined with reduced documentation and faster processing times.
